Friday November 21, Port Walton to Panama City Marina
Depart dock at 0721.
Was 50 degrees and clear skies and the water around the dock was clear
also. At 0743 we entered Choctawhatchee
Bay. It is a large bay and during some points is very shallow so it is
important to follow the markers. Water
was a light chop, winds out of the northeast and 30 miles to cross the
bay. Entered the area called the Canyon,
another canyon, at 1117. It extends from
mm 253 to mm275. It is a very narrow
channel but deep. Past 2 tows in the
canyon. One of them was eastbound like
us. It was a difficult passing situation
because of the narrowness of the channel.
We entered the West bay, mm273, which opens into a much wider body of
water. Traveled thru West bay and St.
Andrews bay to reach Panama City Municipal marina at 1550.
