Thurs June 29 - Champlain Marina to Isle La Mott Finally left the Marina in gray skies. Traveled out onto the lake and headed for an anchorage just north of Isle La Mott. As we approached, the rain began and continued for the next 10 hours. The anchor was set and we ate lunch and dinner and filled our time completing last minute tasks in the US. By evening, we were bored with the rain and our books and each other. Time for bed.
We have no pictures of this day. As Colletta said it rained all day and was very windy. we chose this
anchorage simply for the fact that it provided some protection from the wind and had good holding for the anchor. We didn't know how good of holding until the next morning when we pulled up the anchor and there was a huge block of what looked like grey modeling clay stuck to it. It took both of our efforts with hose, boat hook, and finally a paint scraper to get the stuff off so we could be on our way.
Better to spend time in the morning cleaning the anchor off then dragging it in the middle of the night.
