Beausoleil Island to Port Rawson Bay (Massassauga Providential Park)

Aug 6-8 Mon-Wed Beausoleil Island to Port Rawson Bay (Massassauga Providential Park)
After being here for four nights the chain and anchor were very twisted and kinky and the chain on the bottom was muddy.  We got the chain up with a little mess but started moving.  We went around Beausoleil Island and headed thru Minnicog Channel on our way to Port Rawson Bay.  The anchorage was a suggestion from our friends on Manana.  The route was winding and we followed the chart closely between all the markers.  The highlight of the trip was watching a bear swim in channel in front of us and scamper into the island woods.  After anchoring and a little fishing, we celebrated Colletta's birthday-steak dinner, birthday cake and party games.  A wonderful time.
After the captain treated the first mate to pancake breakfast, we boarded the dinghy and took off in search of  the waterfall.  With Pam navigating, we went through Moon Bay and Arnold Bay until we passed the white driveway reflector post in the water.  We proceeded slowly up a channel until campers and hikers were spotted and then the rocky waterfall.  We carefully pulled the dinghy ashore amongst the rocks and walked to the falls, up to the top and back down.  Tom lounged leisurely in the cool, whirlpool-like water.  The falls was a 10 mile ride, each way, on the dinghy so we were both little stiff and sore by the time we got back to Greeks Folly - ready for a beer and some munchies.
This overcast day began with a bright spot of Tom catching his first fish - a Northern Pike about 15 inches long. This peaked our interest so all four of us fished much of the morning.  Tom and Colletta had no success - Colletta caught mostly weeds.  Pam, however, caught a large mouth bass.  She decided on CPR - catch, picture, release - so someone else could also enjoy catching this large fish - a true sportsman.  In the afternoon we piled into the dinghy again, rode the 6 miles to Henri's and enjoyed their specialty of fish and chips - which was walleye.  After the traditional scoop of ice cream we headed back to our anchorage and enjoyed touring the shoreline, checking out the other boaters and their activities.  After a travel planning session, we enjoyed some popcorn and relaxed.

Some more navigational hazards

A bear swam across our path on the way to Port Rawson
anchorage.

He swam back and forth this opening changing
directions every time a boat would approach.
We held back until he committed to one side of the
opening and just watched. He was a very good
swimmer and once he hit the shore also very fast.
One minute he was coming out of the water and the
next he was gone behind the bushes.

Cruising in the dinghy in search of the waterfall

Some cool cabins but very isolated

Finally arriving at the waterfall and meeting Dale
and his wife from "The Journey" a boat from
Grand Isle, Nebraska

Improvised anchor

The crews at the falls

Such a goof

Climbing the falls

They said you had to taste the water.... so here goes.
I feel so much younger and no body parts hurt any more.
Not... it wasn't the fountain of youth, just cool clean water

Lounging in nature's whirlpool

Back at the anchorage locals fishing around our
boat. The guy on the jet ski had his blind, deaf dog
with him on the ski

There are a lot of float planes in these parts that come
into Henry's which is very famous in these parts

The world famous, Henry's

Ice cream of course for dessert
