Wednesday, June 1, 2016 Isle of Hope Marina to Beaufort South Carolina

Woke up at 05:30.  At 0600, pulled out in the dark.  Headed east into an orange sunrise, water was flat and calm.  We left early to get through Fields Cut at high tide and was successful with those plans. Georgia and South Carolina have an 8 foot tide which means navigation is always a concern around shallow water. It was a very easy ride. Once again we saw many dolphin. The dolphin seem to travel in pods with young with them. They are often feeding or playing or riding our bow wake.  It is amazing to see that many dolphin this far inland away from the ocean. This easy day of traveling concluded with us arriving at Beaufort, South Carolina about about 1330. We put the dingy down, picked up John and Pam and headed into town to explore. It is a quaint town with shops and many historical homes. We wandered around and enjoyed the scenery. It was hot too. Headed back to the boats and met for dinner on Short Vacation.  We enjoyed a meal, laughs, which made for a nice evening.
Leaving the marina at sun up
Notice the height of the boat lift on the left. This
is what you have to do when you have 8 foot tides.
Steep ramp up from the floating dock also.
