Thurs, June 8 Great Kills to Half Moon Bay

Thurs, June 8  Great Kills to Half Moon Bay
Left the mooring field and traveled into downtown NYC aboard Greek's Folly.  One of the highlights of the route is having the opportunity to past the Statue of Liberty with your own vessel.  We past very close to the island and took the opportunity for pictures and also took some of other boats too.  At one time, there were 4 pleasure craft (that's us), 5 ferries and 2 Staten Island ferries all passing the Statue of Liberty at the same time.  She sure gets a lot of attention and a lot of looks at some great boats.  We traveled up the Hudson river and saw NYC from a different angle.  It was surprising how quickly the scenery changes, first, city and skyscrapers, then wooded trees and stone cliffs.  We moored at Half Moon Bay and met up again with fellow loopers and friends.
The crew at Great Kills Yacht Club: John C. and his wife were
fantastic hosts as were all of the members we met

Coming under the Verrazano Bridge in our boat. Into New York
harbor we go.....

Piloting your own boat up thru the harbor to Lady Liberty herself
greeting you as you cruise by. Awesome. A really special feeling

The New York skyline as you approach from the Narrows

Up close and personal with the Lady.
