Aug 13 and 14 - Mon and Tues - Byng Inlet (Wrights Marina) to The Gun Barrel Anchorage
It was a lazy departure from the marina and we continue on the small boat channel which continues to weave between rocks and islands. People have been telling us "it just gets more beautiful the farther north you go" and they are right! It's interesting how pretty rocks and trees can be. The monarch butterflies have appeared and flutter around us, gliding and flying and enjoying some of our air current. We anchor in The Gun Barrel anchorage. The cruising guide says to enter between the Brown house and Green roofed house so we did and now are anchored. The long channel can get bouncy but the winds are in our favor so we have a comfortable stay. The first thing we notice are the loons, their call and them staring at us like "OK, more boaters". During our stay, the loons are ever present, a family of three swimming in their neighborhood, and even a group of six adults hanging out together as if talking about their "kids". We explore in and out between the bays and rocks and channels. In the quietness we hear the wind blow, the trees moving. It seems we can always hear the wind here, just reminding us of natures presences. We discover a very old sunken boat in about six feet of water where we can see the boards and nails of its hull. While trolling, Colletta catches her first fish - a small mouth bass. Hope there are more of those to catch in the future.
